Design and Operation

Scroll Compressors consist of two interlocking spiral scrolls or plates. One scroll remains stationary, while the other orbits or rotates eccentrically, creating a series of gas pockets that progressively decrease in volume, compressing the air. The screw compressor employs two intermeshing helical rotors, male and female, that rotate and draw air into the spaces between them and compress the air as the volume decreases.

Efficiency and Performance

Scroll Compressors are known for their high efficiency and reliability, especially in low to medium-duty applications. They have a simple design with fewer moving parts, resulting in less vibration and noise – they are better suited for lower air volume requirements. Screw compressors are designed for heavy-duty applications and higher air volume demands. Screw compressors are generally more efficient for larger-scale operations.
